Wi-Fi Connected/SSID context stuck on unknown SSID; disconnect events not picked up #17

Before filing

  • I searched existing issues, including closed ones, and this is not a duplicate.
  • I am running the latest release, or I have noted below why I cannot.

Version

v0.2.93

Operating system

Pixel 9a, GrapheneOS 2026091001, Aroid 17

What happened?

Wi-Fi Connected/SSID context reports are inconsistent. I had them actually report the correct ssid, just to switch to
Unknown after a while and never return back to actual ssid.
adb shell dumpsys wifi confirms the OS still has the correct ssid at the same moment Inspector shows unknown — so this looks like it's just not reaching the app.
If i disconnect the wifi, the device state gets not updated until restarting open tasker.
Connecting to the wifi again gets picked up immediately - but again with the unknown ssid.
Therefore I am not able to get a consistently working ssid match for my context.

Steps to reproduce

  1. run OpenTasker in a secondary user profile
  2. Grant OpenTasker all permissions possible
  3. Create a profile with a State context: key=wifi_ssid, operator==, value=<SSID>
  4. connect to the wifi directly from that user profile

    @chogardjr

    I'd like to bump this bug

    I'm on the same app version on a Samsung S26+ with Android 16

    I have setup the same profile with the same State of wifi and I've discovered two issues with my device. I not only get a persistent wifi_ssid=Unknown but also the wifi-connected=true persists through wifi disconnect.

    I learned of the wifi_connected=true persists by trying to use this as the intent.

    I really didn't feel like doing Termux Script: dumpsys wifi | grep -oP 'SSID="\K[^"]+' → store in %SSID then setting the values to look for it this way. Seems like something this app should be able to handle on it's own.

    Fixed in v0.2.94. The Wi-Fi name shows up on Android 12 and later, and turning Wi-Fi off registers right away. If the name is still hidden, the Inspector now says why. Thanks for the dumpsys check.
