- Around line 195-197: Update the added-query guard before query.setState so it
accepts incoming states with either defined data or a non-null error, allowing
explicit error states to replace a local pending state while preserving the
existing data condition.

188-211: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winCover adoption of an incoming settled error.
The guard adopts an incoming
addedstate withstatus: 'error', but the regression test exercises only thependingpreservation branch. Add a second message at this test boundary and assert that the incoming error replaces the existing error.Suggested fix
expect(queryClient.getQueryState(existingKey)?.status).toBe('error') expect(queryClient.getQueryState(existingKey)?.error).toBe(error) + + const incomingError = new Error('upstream') + lastCreatedChannel.onmessage?.({ + type: 'added', + queryHash: existingQuery.queryHash, + queryKey: existingKey, + state: { + status: 'error', + fetchStatus: 'idle', + data: undefined, + dataUpdatedAt: 0, + error: incomingError, + errorUpdatedAt: 0, + }, + }) + expect(queryClient.getQueryState(existingKey)?.status).toBe('error') + expect(queryClient.getQueryState(existingKey)?.error).toBe(incomingError)🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

…ng 'added' message
|
I added a test for this in deb8468. A query with no data now takes an incoming error state, and the test fails with the old |
🎯 Changes
#11392 stopped
addedfrom wiping a query that already has data, but a query that failed has no data either, so it still got reset to the sender's freshpendingstate when another tab built the same key. The error was lost and the query sat inpending/idlewith nothing fetching. Now
addedis only applied to a query without data when the incoming state has settled (success or error). A brand-newpendingstate from another tab carries nothing new, so there's no reason to take it.Fixes #12213
