[FEATURE] Desktop: ⌘K global search should remember the last selected filter #103651

Description

Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing requests and this feature hasn't been requested yet
  • This is a single feature request (not multiple features)

Problem Statement

I only use the Code tab in the Claude desktop app. Every time I open global search with ⌘K, it opens with the default filter rather than Code, so I have to switch the filter to Code before I can find my session. Search is something I use many times a day, and this extra step adds friction every time.

Proposed Solution

When I reopen ⌘K, the search should keep the filter I selected last time. If I last filtered to Code, the next ⌘K should open with Code already selected.

Alternative Solutions

MRU switching like macOS ⌘Tab (see #93666) would mean I open search less often, since I could jump straight back to the previous session.

Priority

High - Significant impact on productivity

Use Case Example

  1. I’m working in several Code sessions across different repos.
  2. I press ⌘K to jump to another session.
  3. Search opens on the default filter, so I click Code first, then type.
  4. With this feature, step 3 disappears: ⌘K opens straight into Code results.

Additional Context

macOS, Claude desktop app.
