VERSION 2.7.0 with PRE_RELEASE 'dev', an Unreleased 2.7.0 entry in the release log, and compare.py's DEFAULT_BASELINE at the version just released (release checklist steps 8-9). CITATION.cff stays at 2.6.0. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
