Rewinding a chat message just sent failed with "Message not found in this session." It worked only after switching conversations and back. Found in the Linux pass of v2.1.0-rc.3 (#1290); rc.1 behaves the same.

Cause. The panel shows a sent message before the main process stores it, under a local local_<ts>_u id. It kept that id, because runChat never said which id it stored the message under. A rewind names the message by id, and the session did not know the local one.

Fix.

• runChat reports userMessageId, also when the model answers nothing: the message is stored all the same and can be rewound to retry.
• The panel gives the message that id and its real checkpoint (adoptStoredUserMessage).
• A text-only turn records no checkpoint, so its ↩ button no longer offers a rewind that could only fail.

Testing

• chat-service.toolloop.test.ts:
  • the reported id is the stored one, and rewindToMessage accepts it;
  • the id is also reported on an empty reply.
• chatTranscript.test.ts:
  • the local id and checkpoint are replaced;
  • a turn without a checkpoint hides the rewind;
  • nothing changes when nothing was stored.
• vitest on these files and the LeftPanel tests: 31 pass. Both tsc configs and Biome are clean.
• No preview, capture or export path is touched, so there are no performance numbers to give.
• Not run in the real app.
