Ability to Visualize Context Window like Claude Code #29
Describe the feature or problem you'd like to solve
When working with agents, we have to guess when the context window will get filled. If that happens, the model starts losing context and performing poorly.
Proposed solution
This snapshot is from Claude Code. We can see the context window stats using /context command.
If GitHub Copilot CLI gets something smiliar, it would let us see:
the total context window size
how many tokens used by the model
how many tokens used by the messages array
how many token remaining
etc
We can then optimize the context of that session. It would save us time and effort in the long run by getting consistent results from the model.
@RyanHecht Thank you Ryan! this is a good start. Could you please consider adding the context window size "remaining vs consumed"? That was part of my request. It will help optimize the context while working. Thanks.
I believe this has been addressed in v0.0.372. The /context command now shows a visual grid of your context window, breaking down system/tools tokens, message tokens, free space, and buffer -- including the "remaining vs consumed" display you asked about. The /usage command (v0.0.333) and truncation warning at 20% remaining (v0.0.334) also contribute to context awareness. If you believe this isn't resolved, please feel free to reopen this issue.

Hi @zazendev9900! We added
/usagein 0.0.333 and a truncation warning in 0.0.334 that should improve this experience!zazendev9900 commentedon Oct 19, 2025
