Fix is merged and should go out in the next release. We weren't propagating abort signals to a couple of tools like the bash tool, and not stopping to check them while in the process of iterating over the output stream. In all of my manual tests and repros cancellations are now instantaneous. But please reopen this issue if you aren't seeing that after the next mainline release.

Same issue here.
Workaround: Kill terminal, open chat again by using
copilot --resumeand continue.EvanBoyle commentedon Nov 11, 2025
I have a reliable repro for this now:
run sleep 400 via the bash toolI believe when we added streaming, we might've forgotten to check the abort signal within those loops. Working on a fix now.
