git clone fails - always requires authorization which fails #296
The command git clone --depth=1 https://github.com/github/copilot.vim.git ~/.config/nvim/pack/github/start/copilot.vim
as given in README.md always asks for authentication.
Neither my alias name nor my email address (with password) is being accepted. The password query always shows the entered account suffixed with "@github.com".
The same credentials are valid for authenticate at github.com.
The destination directory is existing.

This has nothing to do with copilot.vim as it's about auth to GitHub (which seemed to have recently changed something around auth for clone/pull over HTTPS I guess as I see tools now start asking for user/password when cloning over HTTPS).

git clone --depth=1 git@github.com:github/copilot.vim.git ~/.config/nvim/pack/github/start/copilot.vim(or alternatively you can use GH CLI for the same).rakotomandimby commentedon Oct 12, 2026
Simplest : use SSH
