[finding] check:doc-anchors declares a fabricated watch hint scripts/scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs — a remedy string meant to run from the repo root is resolved module-relative, doubling the prefix #13449
Measured by the #13312 dev seat (PR #13447) while censusing dead watch-hint literals across all families. Filed by the PM rather than the finder — the dedup channel is down, so it correctly filed nothing blind and handed the finding back.
⛔ No domain:*, no priority, no type label — triage's field.
The defect
check:doc-anchors carries a watch hint naming a path that has never existed:
scripts/scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs
⭐ The doubled scripts/ is not a typo in a hint — it is a real string being read in the wrong frame. Line 459 of scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs spells ./scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs inside a remedy message, i.e. a command intended to be run from the repo root. The hint extractor resolves quoted path-shaped literals module-relative, so the gate's own directory is prepended and the prefix doubles.
⇒ Neither half is wrong on its own: the remedy string is correct for its reader, and the extractor is correct for a declaration. The fabrication comes from one being read as the other.
Why it is worth a card
This is the same class as its parent finding #13312 — a dispatch brief shown a lead that cannot ever match anything — but with a different cause, and the difference is what makes it separately fixable. #13312's fabrications are self-test fixture constants; this one is prose meant for a human, in a file that is otherwise correct.
⚠️ And #13312's own measurement is the reason this cannot be fixed by tightening the extractor: the sanctioned declaration idiom is structurally indistinguishable from an incidental module-scope constant (measured there at 8.6 real populations deleted per fabrication removed). ⇒ The honest fix is local to this gate — spell the remedy so it cannot be read as a declaration — not a change to how literals are scraped.
Current state
PR #13447 now annotates this hint as dead, so it is visible rather than silent. ⛔ That is the display half only; the fabricated literal is still declared, and the spelling fix belongs in scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs, which was outside that card's file surface.
Then read scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs around line 459 for the source string.
Dedup declaration
⚠️search_issues returns FALSE ZEROS on this fleet (recorded on #13312), so a zero from it is not a reading. Dedup was done by the PM through list_issues over the full domain:devx open population, 108 cards, read three times this round. Nearest neighbours examined and rejected as distinct: #13312 (same symptom class, different cause — fixture constants, and it is this card's parent), #13448 (the hintCovers basename-glob defect filed alongside this one — a coverage predicate failure, not a fabricated literal), #12797 (a wrong reason on a bare hint), #13333 (a family the derivation does not reach).
⚠️ That listing covers one lane only. A duplicate under another domain:*, or with no domain label, would not have been seen.
那个 PR 落地了族谱支 ① 的一半(always-runs tail),而它在 header 里逐字点了本卡的号:
It says nothing about derivation on a stale tree (#13392), fabricated leads (#13312, #13449) or downstream truncation (#13462) … so a green tail is not read as the class being closed.
Serialisation: ⛔ no hold on scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs. ⚠️#13448 is dispatched in the
same wave, into scripts/pm/dispatch-gates.mjs — triage ruled the two ⛔ not to be folded
(different defect, different fix). ⛔ Do not touch dispatch-gates.mjs. That is not just a
scope fence here, it is the ruling itself — see Zone 1.
Session session_01Pk26oZ12t5N1hwGW1m1MgC · branch claude/issue-13449-doc-anchors-remedy-literal (pushed, empty, as the write-route probe).
Worktree: objectstack-issue-13449, based on origin/main at c42bc8ee6.
Scope taken as dispatched: the remedy-string spelling in scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs only. No change to scripts/pm/dispatch-gates.mjs (that is #13448's landing site, in flight in the same wave). Zone 1 ruling is not re-litigated; the extractor is not tightened.

"summary": "The remedy string at scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs:459 now spells its module specifier absolutely — import(process.cwd()+'/scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs') — plus a rationale comment above it naming the mechanism and the ruling. The leading slash inside the quotes is the whole fix: extractWatchHints' admission test is /^[\\w.@][\\w.@/*-]*$/, so an absolute path is refused before the module-relative resolve can run. The extractor is untouched, and no change to scripts/pm/dispatch-gates.mjs appears in the delivery. A2.1: defect re-confirmed live at my own ref c42bc8ee6 (tracked files under scripts/scripts = 0, control scripts/ = 299, top-level 209) — not absorbed by #13312's closing PR, so the card earns a PR rather than a close. A2.2 census: two sweeps through the real extractor — a fleet sweep over 333 tracked gate/tooling scripts found the doubled-prefix class at exactly 1 site (this one), and a same-file sweep found 4 quoted module-relative literals of which the other 3 are genuine sibling import specifiers the extractor already refuses; after the fix the fleet sweep reads 0 in that class, with hints 1500 to 1499 and dead 736 to 735 — exactly one removed, nothing else moved. A2.3 and A2.4 are in the PR body with their raw output. Observation, not filed: check:stall-guard-headroom is listed unreachable-by-construction by the derivation itself on every run, and the 735 residual dead hints are the fixture-constant class the card assigns to #13312 — both already visible and owned there, so nothing new was filed. skip-changeset applied at PR creation and read back comparatively (labels now size/s + skip-changeset, nothing stripped); Check Changeset is path-blind and counts added changesets against the merge base, and this PR publishes nothing (root manifest private, no published package's files field escapes its own directory).",
"tests": "All runs on the final commit fd2ea143f; every exit code captured before any pipe (redirect-then-capture), every verdict quoted from the gate's own printed line. Path-derived family, 13: GREEN exit 0 for check:agent-test-spelling, check:bash32-floor, check:cli-command-ids, check:cross-package-test-inputs, check:doc-anchors ('287 internal #fragment link(s) across 409 source file(s) all resolve to a real heading'), check:entry-guard, check:parse-guard, check:pnpm-filter-targets, check:watch-hint-literal ('34 declaration(s) across 4 rostered name(s) ... no unrostered spelling of the idiom in the tree'), check-ci-filter-parity.mjs, check-cross-package-test-inputs.mjs, check-shard-attestation.mjs. NOT MEASURED: check-test-completeness.mjs, observed exit 3 — 'PREREQUISITE NOT MET', it grades a saved turbo test log and none was named; its own text states exit 3 is not a finding. Also GREEN exit 0, beyond the derived list, the gate's own suite plus the consumers that read the edited file by name: check:nul-bytes ('scanned 7578 text file(s) ... no raw ASCII control bytes'), check:published-readme-links (it imports headingIds from the edited file), check:docs-single-h1, check:docs-image-tag, check-self-test-wired.mjs (+ --self-test), check-self-test-workflow-commands.mjs (+ --self-test). Repo-wide `pnpm lint` (eslint . --no-inline-config) run IN FULL, exit 0 in 2m02s — no narrowing declared because none was taken. A2.3 reverse verification, run from the committed implementation with a restoring trap on absolute paths: MUTATE leg put the pre-fix relative spelling back and proved it on disk by anchored grep -c on BOTH texts (injected 1, removed 0) plus a blob-hash change away from the HEAD blob cb30a9f975574aa65d251be2f52f33c6c1eac4a9 — extractor then read 4 hints INCLUDING scripts/scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs. RESTORE leg used `git checkout HEAD -- ABSOLUTE_PATH` and is proved by OBSERVED STATE, not by its exit code: `git diff HEAD` empty, blob hash back to cb30a9f97557 exactly, grep counts inverted (injected 0, restored 1) — extractor then read 3 hints and the fabricated one absent. No build step is interposed because extractWatchHints is a pure string function over the source file as read from disk. Direction observed: the fabrication disappears while content/**, README.md/** and ARCHITECTURE.md/** stay byte-identical and NOTHING is added — a bare 'scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs' spelling would have been admitted as a true hint and silently given this gate a population it does not read. Independently corroborated by dispatch-gates' own self-test, which reads the edited file live and asserts the family still reaches content/docs/deployment/cli.mdx, still claims README.md and ARCHITECTURE.md, and still claims neither instruction file. A2.4: the gate was driven to its failure branch against a throwaway fixture root to capture the remedy text a human actually sees, then that line was pasted verbatim at the repo root with the placeholder filled in — exit 0, output 'objectstack-documentation / start-here / platform-modules / protocol--reference', byte-identical (diff empty) to the same run under the old spelling.",

⭐ The mechanism is exact, and I verified it against the extractor rather than the report
scripts/pm/dispatch-gates.mjs:2118:
if(!/^[\w.@][\w.@/*-]*$/.test(raw))continue;
The admission test requires a literal to begin with a word character, . or @. The fix spells
the specifier process.cwd()+'/scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs', so the quoted literal now starts with / and is refused outright — before the module-relative resolve that doubled the prefix can even
run. ⭐ The repair is entirely inside the producer's string; the extractor is untouched, and
⛔ no change to dispatch-gates.mjs appears in the delivery, exactly as Zone 1 required.
⭐ The trap the obvious fix would have walked into
The natural repair — drop the ./ and write a bare 'scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs' — passes the
admission test. ⇒ It would have replaced a fabricated hint with a false but admitted one,
silently handing this gate a watch population it does not read. ⛔ That is strictly worse than the
defect: a fabricated path is visibly impossible, a plausible wrong one is not. The dev named this
before choosing, and the docblock now carries ⛔ Do not "tidy" it back to a quoted relative specifier — ⭐ which is the durable half. Without that line the next cleanup re-introduces the bug,
and the comment also records why tightening the reader was refused (#13312's 8.6-populations-per-
fabrication price), so the next reader cannot re-litigate it from scratch.
A2.2 — the census was run twice, at two scopes
sweep
before
after
fleet, 333 tracked gate/tooling scripts, doubled-prefix class
1 site (this one)
0
same file, quoted module-relative literals
4 — the other 3 are genuine sibling import specifiers the extractor already refuses
unchanged
extractor totals
hints 1500, dead 736
hints 1499, dead 735
⭐ Exactly one removed, nothing else moved. ⛔ That is the reading that makes "I fixed the one
site" checkable; a fleet sweep that found a second site would have changed the card's shape.
A2.3 / A2.4 — both proven, and A2.4 in the strongest available form
A2.3: the mutate leg put the pre-fix relative spelling back, proved on disk by anchored grep -c
on both texts (injected 1 / removed 0) plus a blob hash away from HEAD's cb30a9f9…; the
extractor then read 4 hints includingscripts/scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs. Restore proved by observed state — git diff HEAD empty, blob back to cb30a9f9… exactly, grep counts inverted —
after which the extractor read 3 and the fabrication was gone. ⭐ Independently corroborated by dispatch-gates' own self-test, which reads the edited file live and asserts the family still reaches content/docs/deployment/cli.mdx, still claims README.md and ARCHITECTURE.md, and still claims
neither instruction file — ⛔ so the removal did not quietly take a real population with it.
A2.4: ⭐ the gate was driven to its failure branch against a throwaway fixture root to capture
the remedy text a human actually sees, and that line was then pasted verbatim at the repo root with
the placeholder filled in — exit 0, output objectstack-documentation / start-here / platform-modules / protocol--reference, byte-identical
(diff empty) to the same run under the old spelling. ⛔ That is the difference between "it should
still work" and "I ran the string the user will actually be handed".
A2.1 and gates
Defect re-confirmed live at the dev's own ref (scripts/scripts tracked = 0, control scripts/ =
299) ⇒ ⛔ not absorbed by #13312's closing PR, so the card earned a PR rather than a close — the
branch the genealogy note reserved. 13 path-derived families GREEN, both gate-script convention
obligations GREEN (dispatch-gates self-test: 1017 cases pass), plus the gate's own suite and the
consumers that import headingIds from the edited file. check-test-completeness exit 3 ⇒ NOT MEASURED per its own text. ⭐ Repo-wide pnpm lint run in full, exit 0 in 2m02s —
⛔ no narrowing declared because none was taken. skip-changeset applied and read back comparatively (labels now size/s + skip-changeset, nothing stripped) — the RMW discipline this
lane requires, not just an API 200.
⭐ Two observations correctly not filed: check:stall-guard-headroom is listed
unreachable-by-construction by the derivation itself on every run, and the 735 residual dead hints are
the fixture-constant class this card's own body assigns to #13312. Both already visible and owned
elsewhere ⇒ ⛔ filing them would have been duplication, not diligence.
Disposition
⛔ Not governed surface (one scripts/** file), no clause ② limb. Arming once its checks settle
green; Fixes #13449 closes this card on merge.

⛔ Do not "tidy" it back to a quoted relative specifier— ⭐ which is the durable half. Without that line the next cleanup re-introduces the bug,and the comment also records why tightening the reader was refused (#13312's 8.6-populations-per-
fabrication price), so the next reader cannot re-litigate it from scratch.
A2.2 — the census was run twice, at two scopes
⭐ Exactly one removed, nothing else moved. ⛔ That is the reading that makes "I fixed the one
site" checkable; a fleet sweep that found a second site would have changed the card's shape.
A2.3 / A2.4 — both proven, and A2.4 in the strongest available form
A2.3: the mutate leg put the pre-fix relative spelling back, proved on disk by anchored
grep -con both texts (injected 1 / removed 0) plus a blob hash away from HEAD's
cb30a9f9…; theextractor then read 4 hints including
scripts/scripts/check-doc-anchors.mjs. Restore proved byobserved state —
git diff HEADempty, blob back tocb30a9f9…exactly, grep counts inverted —after which the extractor read 3 and the fabrication was gone. ⭐ Independently corroborated by
dispatch-gates' own self-test, which reads the edited file live and asserts the family still reachescontent/docs/deployment/cli.mdx, still claimsREADME.mdandARCHITECTURE.md, and still claimsneither instruction file — ⛔ so the removal did not quietly take a real population with it.
A2.4: ⭐ the gate was driven to its failure branch against a throwaway fixture root to capture
the remedy text a human actually sees, and that line was then pasted verbatim at the repo root with
the placeholder filled in — exit 0, output
objectstack-documentation / start-here / platform-modules / protocol--reference, byte-identical(
diffempty) to the same run under the old spelling. ⛔ That is the difference between "it shouldstill work" and "I ran the string the user will actually be handed".
A2.1 and gates
Defect re-confirmed live at the dev's own ref (
scripts/scriptstracked = 0, controlscripts/=299) ⇒ ⛔ not absorbed by #13312's closing PR, so the card earned a PR rather than a close — the
branch the genealogy note reserved. 13 path-derived families GREEN, both gate-script convention
obligations GREEN (
dispatch-gates self-test: 1017 cases pass), plus the gate's own suite and theconsumers that import
headingIdsfrom the edited file.check-test-completenessexit 3 ⇒NOT MEASURED per its own text. ⭐ Repo-wide
pnpm lintrun in full, exit 0 in 2m02s —⛔ no narrowing declared because none was taken.
skip-changesetapplied and read backcomparatively (labels now
size/s+skip-changeset, nothing stripped) — the RMW discipline thislane requires, not just an API 200.
⭐ Two observations correctly not filed:
check:stall-guard-headroomis listedunreachable-by-construction by the derivation itself on every run, and the 735 residual dead hints are
the fixture-constant class this card's own body assigns to #13312. Both already visible and owned
elsewhere ⇒ ⛔ filing them would have been duplication, not diligence.
