Setup: Notification Preferences and permission-set assignments are titled by raw user ids, not the person's name #24775
Filing gate ③ a task the maintainer set: objectstack-ai/hotcrm#2188, the maintainer's browser pass of 2026-10-20. Each defect gets its own card, by the maintainer's ruling 「按照按照具体的issue单独提交卡片,不受数量限制。」 (recorded on objectstack-ai/hotcrm#2188, 6283467378). This is finding F-25 of track 2 (Setup as the system administrator), by the cloud tester session_01VuXyJvhGKJy8qeUvhKyxzv. It was measured on HotCRM mainf22dfa52 with @objectstack/* 18.0.0-next.5, in Chromium at 1440×900 on a locally booted, seeded install. The evidence is on the branch claude/qa-setup-pass-2026-10-20 at ed4f40e42, which is never merged. Filed by the repo:hotcrm seat 2 (os-support-ai, session session_01KqkTQNLcxVc588eZpJmp1r). ⛔ Not a claim. Grade: triage's.
Reader (who acts): objectstack triage routes it.
The finding, as measured
Persona / URL: dev admin, Setup → Configuration → Notification Preferences; a user's Permission Sets tab.
Actual: the Notification Preferences list and record title read like ISu3jHPIrdgD45L1rrC2FuE7DIcsk2ap · urgent_task · inbox. A sys_user_permission_set record is titled <raw user id> → qa_fls_rep.
Expected: a record that names a person shows the person's name, as every lookup elsewhere does.
class: a (UX defect: an admin cannot tell whose record it is). Reach: every admin.
Seat review
Scope: the finding's first half, the raw id in Record Shares' Recipient column, is objectstack#24701 (open), and the measurement is added there. This card is the other two objects.
Landing:service-messagingsys_notification_preference and sys_user_permission_set compose their titles from the raw user id.
Dedupe
Method: semantic search_issues on objectstack-ai/objectstack and objectstack-ai/objectui, open and closed, using the finding's own dedupe words and a second phrasing; plus a grep of every issue title (objectstack #1–#24751, objectui #7–#13153) listed through the repo-scoped issues?state=all endpoint, because the semantic search can miss title words (objectstack#14743).
4 hits in objectstack, 4 in objectui. objectstack#24701 (open) covers the record-share recipient only. New for these two objects.

File surface: packages/plugins/plugin-security/src/objects/sys-user-permission-set.object.ts and packages/services/service-messaging/src/objects/notification-preference.object.ts (the display_title formula and the title pointers only), their generated translation bundles if the title field's label moves (regenerated by each package's generator), pins beside them, and one new .changeset/24775-*.md. ⛔ Not packages/spec/** (a formula feature the expression language lacks is the spec lane's), ⛔ no new stored column, ⛔ no objectui edit, ⛔ no console-side name mapping (#24375) (stop on breach; explain in the report)
Container & model: S, mode:subagent, model: default (opus), quoting this dispatch's --tier output "no path-derived mandate"
Clause-②: no
Responsibility: a user permission-set assignment and a notification preference are titled by the raw user id | each object's display_title formula composes record.user_id (sys-user-permission-set.object.ts:70 at 81120caac8) | every admin reading Setup's Notification Preferences and a user's Permission Sets tab (HotCRM pass, F-25)
Thread-read: none
Serial constraints cleared: No open PR touches either object file (all open PRs' files read at this claim). #24701's ruling 6282390889 (route B, a display declaration for sys_record_share.recipient_id) is the nearest precedent; its card is closed.

In it, sys_user_permission_set.display_title names the person: (isBlank(trim(record.user_id.name)) ? record.user_id.email : record.user_id.name) + ' → ' + record.permission_set. It is read one hop through the user_id lookup under the reader's own authority (ADR-0079 addendum; H4 measured true on the real engine), with no stored column, no spec change and no objectui change. The other half, sys_notification_preference, cannot take that route, because its user_id is Field.text holding a user id or the literal '*' admin-global default; a text column gets no hop, and a text-hop formula was measured to read null. Naming the person there needs a ruling (open_questions[0]). Separately, the hop costs a principal holding a direct grant one more sys_user read and one more round trip in every request's authz prelude (measured 8/4 to 9/5), which open_questions[1] puts to the seat. No console render rule is the route for either title, so there is no objectui follow-up from this card.",

"options": [
"A. Re-type user_id as a user reference and spell the admin-global default as an empty reference instead of '*' (ADR-0118 D1's representation of a non-user in a user column); the title then reads the person one hop. Business need: the Setup grid is the measured producer (HotCRM F-25), and git grep finds zero code producers of '*' rows (only the resolver constant, its tests and one driver-sql test). Long-term: contract-first, a sentinel removed from a user column. AI mistakes: the write door refuses a non-user id that today is stored and silently matches nobody. Startup scope: no new column, but an accept-set narrowing (Clause-②: yes (narrowing), BREAKING) owing a stored-row conversion '*' to null, the resolver change and a NULL-safe user key part in the (user_id, topic, channel) unique index (ADR-0120 D3 covers only the organization part). Effort M, as its own card.",
"B. A console display hint on user_id. No widget at the pin names a user id or '*' (the shipped hints are recipient-picker, object-ref, position-ref, permission-ref and filter-condition), and a hint on user_id cannot reach the composite formula title, so the H1 and the list title column stay raw. It does not close the finding; it needs a new objectui widget.",

The authz prelude's grant read, tryFind(ql, 'sys_user_permission_set', { user_id: userId }, 100) at packages/core/src/security/resolve-authz-context.ts:1457, names no projection, so it computes display_title and its one batched sys_user read. Measured on the prelude pin's rig: a principal with one direct grant goes from 8 reads / 4 round trips to 9 / 5; one with no direct grant stays 8 / 4. The committed pin measures the no-grant principal, so it stays green and cannot see this. The grants cache is off by default (OS_AUTHZ_GRANTS_CACHE_TTL_MS=0).",

}
Question 2: the hop's per-request cost. Ruled B. PR #24885 does not land as it stands.
Its formula is right for Setup's title. But the authz prelude's grant read (packages/core/src/security/resolve-authz-context.ts ~:1457) names no projection, so it computes display_title on every request.
Measured, for a principal with a direct grant: 8 reads / 4 round trips before, 9 / 5 after. A display title must not cost authorization a round trip.
A (land as is): every admin request pays for a title nobody on that path reads.
C (withdraw the hop): it leaves the defect in place, when the cost has a clean fix.
Question 1: the sys_notification_preference half. It needs a contract change: user_id is a text column holding a user id or the sentinel '*'. That change is filed as #24895, with the dev's four-axis reading. Option A (re-type the column as a user reference) is a breaking accept-set narrowing with a stored-row conversion, so it is the maintainer's to rule and to time.

The prelude was re-measured on the merged tree with this PR's real sys_user_permission_set.display_title (the one-hop person title) on the prelude pin's rig. A principal holding one direct grant now pays 8 reads in 4 round trips (round 1 measured 9/5 on the old base), so the ruling's bar holds: the hop adds no read and no round trip. Controls on the same rig show the hop is live and the instrument counts it: an unprojected grant read costs 2 reads/2 legs (sys_user 1); the projected one costs 1/1. The merge needed two small follow-ups, each in its own commit. (1) A one-line semantic conflict in #24941's pin: its 'as declared' direct-grant case expected the declared title to be the raw user id, and failed on the merge commit before it counted anything. "round2_pr_markdown": "## Round 2 (head `66a590fd88`)\n\n**Merge.** `origin/main` at `865d2c8cf4` is merged in as `9474db510e`, with no rebase and no force-push. It brings #24941 (`644e4b2c54`): the authz prelude's grant read now names `permission_set`, `organization_id`, `valid_from` and `valid_until`. Git reported no conflict and no `os-regen` deferral.\n\n**One semantic conflict, settled in one line** (`894860ed7a`). #24941's pin, `packages/plugins/plugin-auth/src/auth-prelude-query-count.pin.test.ts`, has a pair of direct-grant cases: \"as declared\" and \"with a title that reads one hop through user_id\". Before it counts anything, the \"as declared\" case checks the value of the declared title, and it expected the raw user id. On this branch the declared title is the person-named one. So on the merge commit that check read `Prelude → prelude_editor`, and the case went red (`Expected: \"USER_ID → prelude_editor\"`, `Received: \"Prelude → prelude_editor\"`). The count assertions after it never ran. The line now expects `Prelude → prelude_editor` in both cases. No count, rig or other assertion changed.\n\n**One sentence the merge made false** (`66a590fd88`). The changeset's Cost bullet said the prelude rises to 9 reads in 5 round trips for a grant holder. It now says the prelude's grant read names its columns, so it computes no title and stays at 8 reads in 4 round trips. The rest of the changeset is unchanged.\n\n**The prelude, re-measured on the merged tree.** This uses this PR's real `sys_user_permission_set` definition, on the rig of the pin above, by round 1's method. The probe was a scratch file, deleted and never committed.\n\n| read, for a principal holding one direct grant | reads | round trips |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n| the prelude (`resolveAuthzContext`), round 1 on `b1676441ba` | 9 | 5 |\n| the prelude (`resolveAuthzContext`), now | 8 | 4 |\n| control: the same grant read, no projection | 2 (`sys_user_permission_set` 1, `sys_user` 1) | 2 |\n| control: the same grant read, projected to the four columns | 1 | 1 |\n\n- The prelude's reads match the pin's `PRELUDE_READS` exactly: `sys_session` 1, `sys_user` 2, `sys_member` 2, `sys_user_position` 1, `sys_user_permission_set` 1, `sys_metadata_activation` 1.\n- The unprojected control returns `Prelude → prelude_editor`. So the hop is live on this engine, and the instrument counts it. The projected control returns exactly the four columns.\n- So on `main` now, the hop adds no read and no round trip to the prelude.\n- After the one-line change, the pin passes on the merged tree: all 7 cases, both direct-grant cases at 8 reads in 4 round trips.\n\n**Tests on `66a590fd88`.** Every run went through `scripts/pm/os-verify-lock.sh`, and each exit is read from its VERDICT line.\n- Closure build: `pnpm --workspace-concurrency=2 --filter '@objectstack/plugin-security^...' --filter '@objectstack/plugin-auth^...' build` gave VERDICT command-exit 0 (30 of 85 projects).\n- `pnpm --filter @objectstack/plugin-security exec vitest run --maxWorkers=2`: `Test Files 197 passed (197)`, `Tests 4077 passed | 45 skipped (4122)`.\n- `pnpm --filter @objectstack/plugin-security typecheck`: VERDICT command-exit 0, `check:test-typecheck: OK`.\n- The two title files: `Test Files 2 passed (2)`, `Tests 14 passed (14)`.\n- `plugin-auth` is now a touched package:\n - `pnpm --filter @objectstack/plugin-auth exec vitest run --maxWorkers=2`: `Test Files 172 passed (172)`, `Tests 3289 passed | 10 skipped (3299)`.\n - `pnpm --filter @objectstack/plugin-auth typecheck`: VERDICT command-exit 0, after `pnpm --filter @objectstack/plugin-auth build`. The first attempt stopped at TS2307 in `examples/basic-usage.ts` because the package's own `dist/` was missing, so it measured nothing.\n- No ablation this round, because no tested behaviour changed. Round 1's ablation of the title stands.\n\n**Gates on `66a590fd88`.**\n- `node scripts/pm/dispatch-gates.mjs --commands --repo objectstack-ai/objectstack` derived 69 commands: 5 paths against merge base `865d2c8cf`, 267 changed lines.\n- They ran as one runner under the lock. 67 exited 0 on the first pass. `pnpm check:dual-build-cjs-loads` and `pnpm check:i18n` exited 3 (PREREQUISITE NOT MET, no `dist/`). Both exited 0 on a second pass, after the union's `check:type-check-debt` had built the workspace.\n- `--ran` exited 0: `Run reconciliation — 69 derived, 69 run, 0 NOT-MEASURED, 0 UNRUN.`\n- CI on `66a590fd88`: `Lint & Repo Gates`, `TypeScript Type Check`, `Build Core` and `Governed Surface Queue Guard` succeeded. `Test Core (1/6)` through `(6/6)` succeeded; the aggregate `Test Core` was in_progress at report time.\n\n**Superseded in the body above.**\n- \"Files\" should also list `packages/plugins/plugin-auth/src/auth-prelude-query-count.pin.test.ts` (the one line above).\n- The opening paragraph's \"#24775 remains open after this merges\", and open choice 1: the preference half is now carried by #24895.\n- Open choice 2: ruled B in seat ruling `6291928519` and landed by #24941. The table above is its measurement on `main`.\n- \"Tests\" and \"Gates\": these are round-1 figures on `2deb9e32e6`. The round-2 figures are above.\n"

the PR body's first line is Fixes #24775 (flipped by the seat under ruling 6291928519)
State change in this stroke: pm:dispatched off and the assignee cleared. The card closed completed on the merge.
What changes for users: Setup's permission-set assignments are titled by the person (Alice Liddell → crm_edit), not by the raw user id. The authorization prelude stays at 8 reads in 4 round trips (ACCEPT 6299238497).

It is read one hop through the user_id lookup under the reader's own authority (ADR-0079 addendum; H4 measured true on the real engine), with no stored column, no spec change and no objectui change. The other half, sys_notification_preference, cannot take that route, because its user_id is Field.text holding a user id or the literal '*' admin-global default; a text column gets no hop, and a text-hop formula was measured to read null. domain:servicesseat 1 ·os-justin·session_011TdZ8GjixNZFLz1xJD9zzK· 2026-10-20T13:25ZThis answers the dev's two open questions (report on this card; draft PR #24885,
Part of). Basis: PM discretion. The maintainer can veto.Blocked-by: #24896
Question 2: the hop's per-request cost. Ruled B. PR #24885 does not land as it stands.
packages/core/src/security/resolve-authz-context.ts~:1457) names no projection, so it computesdisplay_titleon every request.domain:engineand is filed as core: the authz prelude reads sys_user_permission_set with no projection, so every formula on it runs per request; PR #24885's one-hop display title would add a sys_user read and a round trip for each principal with a direct grant #24896. It projects the prelude's grant read and adds a grant-holder case toauth-prelude-query-count.pin.test.ts.Question 1: the
sys_notification_preferencehalf. It needs a contract change:user_idis a text column holding a user id or the sentinel'*'. That change is filed as #24895, with the dev's four-axis reading. Option A (re-type the column as a user reference) is a breaking accept-set narrowing with a stored-row conversion, so it is the maintainer's to rule and to time.State and execution.
pm:dispatchedtopm:blockedand keeps its assignee: the work is done, and its PR is held behind core: the authz prelude reads sys_user_permission_set with no projection, so every formula on it runs per request; PR #24885's one-hop display title would add a sys_user read and a round trip for each principal with a direct grant #24896.mainand flips its first line toFixes #24775, because the preference half is now carried by service-messaging: sys_notification_preference.user_id is a text column holding a user id or the sentinel '*', so the preference's title can only show the raw id; naming the person means re-typing it as a user reference (an accept-set narrowing) #24895. Then it lands fix(plugin-security): a permission-set assignment is titled by the person's name, not the raw user id #24885.sys_user_position.display_title(record.user_id + ' → ' + record.position, a lookup) takes the same route. It rides fix(plugin-security): a permission-set assignment is titled by the person's name, not the raw user id #24885 by a claim amendment when the PR resumes, if the dev's measurement holds then.
这是破坏性收窄,还要转换存量数据,已立卡 service-messaging: sys_notification_preference.user_id is a text column holding a user id or the sentinel '*', so the preference's title can only show the raw id; naming the person means re-typing it as a user reference (an accept-set narrowing) #24895,等你定方向和时机。Generated by Claude Code

Its PR fix(core): the authz prelude's grant read projects the columns it decides on #24941 merged as644e4b2c54and is onorigin/main. The authz prelude'ssys_user_permission_setread now projectspermission_set,organization_id,valid_fromandvalid_until. TheBlocked-by: #24896line in the ruling is satisfied.mode:subagent): mergeorigin/maininto the PR branch (no rebase), re-measure the prelude onmainwith fix(plugin-security): a permission-set assignment is titled by the person's name, not the raw user id #24885's realdisplay_title, and re-run the PR's tests and gates. Then the seat flips the PR's first line toFixes #24775and lands it. The preference half is carried by service-messaging: sys_notification_preference.user_id is a text column holding a user id or the sentinel '*', so the preference's title can only show the raw id; naming the person means re-typing it as a user reference (an accept-set narrowing) #24895.sys_user_positiondoes NOT ride this PR. The ruling's condition ("if the dev's measurement holds then") is read as false onmainea08ce584c: the prelude readssys_user_positionwith no projection (packages/core/src/security/resolve-authz-context.ts:1484,tryFind(ql, 'sys_user_position', { user_id: userId }, 200)). So a one-hop title there would cost every position holder a read on every request, the same cost core: the authz prelude reads sys_user_permission_set with no projection, so every formula on it runs per request; PR #24885's one-hop display title would add a sys_user read and a round trip for each principal with a direct grant #24896 removed for grants. The position title needs that read projected first (the engine lane's), and is left to a follow-up.Generated by Claude Code

It merged origin/main 865d2c8cf4, which carries #24941 (644e4b2c54), as 9474db510e: a clean git merge, no rebase, no force-push. The round-2 figures are above.\n" }Generated by Claude Code
