The repository issue text was effectively a placeholder, but the underlying problem in the codebase was real: several Java example files contained corrupted UTF-8 characters and a missing semicolon, leaving otherwise valid book samples uncompilable.

• What was wrong

  • A few example classes had smart-quote/apostrophe corruption from bad encoding in comments and output strings.
  • One custom JavaFX cell factory was missing a semicolon in updateItem, which broke the method body.
  • These defects were isolated to a small set of example sources and did not affect the broader project structure.

• What changed

  • Replaced the corrupted apostrophes with standard ASCII text in the affected example files.
  • Restored the missing semicolon in ImageTextCell.updateItem(...) so the method compiles correctly.
  • Kept the patch limited to the exact files impacted by the compile blockers.
