It doesn't occur on Android 12+ btw
MicroDroid commentedon Feb 1, 2025
@react-native-bot I'll add a reproducer maybe soon, let me sleep for today 😭

Please also mention if this issue is about the new or old architecture.

Message is self explanatory: the app can't find
libreactnative.soto load. If it has been removed from the APK for any reason, we can't load React Native as that contains the C++ code. How does your application
onCreatemethod looks like?Is it something like?

Same issue here. Nexus 5X (Av13) and Pixel 6 Pro (Av12).
Like 30 events 4ish hours after the release.

Stil having this issue!
voxlz commentedon Jan 26, 2026
Just got this issue, only pixel pro and may only be test devices idk yet.

Hi, I’m seeing this same crash pattern in production across multiple real users/devices in Crashlytics, so I don’t think it’s limited to Google automated/test users. The app is on React Native 0.83.0, Could we consider re-opening this issue @cortinico ?
The stack trace itself matches what’s already posted in this thread, so instead of duplicating it again, I’m sharing the device/OS combinations where it occurred for us (all appear to be physical devices in Crashlytics, not emulators/Test Lab):
OnePlus 8 Pro — Android 11
Samsung Galaxy S20 - Android 13
Xiaomi Redmi 13C — Android 13
Nexus 5X - Android 13 (likely a custom ROM)
From what I can tell, the crash happens very early during app startup (before JS/UI), when SoLoader tries to load React Native’s merged native library (libreactnative.so) via the New Architecture entry point (DefaultNewArchitectureEntryPoint.load) Although the .so is present in the APK, the load fails on some devices/OS versions with “couldn’t find DSO to load: libreactnative.so”. My hypothesis is that this is related to the native library packaging/loading path: on certain Android versions/ROMs, direct loading from the APK (vs. having libs extracted to the filesystem on install) appears to be unreliable, leading to SoLoader not resolving the DSO at runtime.
As an experiment/workaround, I switched to legacy native library packaging to force install-time extraction by enabling this in android/app/build.gradle:
I haven’t shipped this change to production yet, but I’m planning to monitor Crashlytics after rollout and will report back whether it eliminates the crash.
Does this align with the known root cause discussed here? If so, would you be open to re-opening this issue (or documenting the recommended mitigation) given that it appears to affect real devices in the wild
arthursady commentedon Feb 11, 2026
Agree with @SerhatKayaa I am also seeing the same pattern on crashlytics so would be great if the issue could be reopened.
Exactly as described above.
cortinico commentedon Feb 11, 2026
We generally don't reopen old issues because the RN version is most likely stale. Please open a new issue + provide a reproducer. Crashlytics reports sadly are not useful for us to reproduce the bug

After commiting the code and erasing the repository to clean up my computer, in the next morning, I cloned the repository again to see an small issue and this problema started to happen to me in DEV environment, using Android Emulator.
I can't tell what changed in the meantime, but this workaround above solved and the app is opening again. This might be temporally, but it worked for me (for now).

new issue opened: #55562 since this one won't be reopened.
would be cool if someone found a repro
